How much does a Power of Attorney cost?

So what should a Power of Attorney cost?

There are 2 different types of Power of Attorney, Health and Welfare and Property & Financial.

Powers Of Attorney Norfolk

We would always advise clients to have both Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) to give themselves the peace of mind that their loved ones will be able to look after them and deal with financial institutions and also have the power to make health and welfare decisions.

The only time we may advise only putting a Health & Welfare LPA into place is if the client has already made an enduring power of attorney which will only allow financial decision to be made by the attorneys.

LPA Costs

Our power of attorney cost is highly competitive and can save hundreds of pounds on the cost on a high street solicitor:

1 x Power of Attorney – £295.00

2 x Power of Attorney – £450.00

4 x Power of Attorney – £795.00 (Perfect for Couples)

(Please note there is a registration fee for each LPA of £82.00 payable by the client directly to the Office of the Public Guardian)

All our pricing is plus VAT @ 20%

Reasons why you should have a Lasting Power of Attorney

You make the decision now and maintain control.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) cannot be put in place after you lose capacity.

You choose who you want as your attorney. If you’re incapacitated without an LPA, decision-making can be awarded to a stranger and if your family want to make decisions they would have to apply to the court of protection, which can take over 9 months and cost over £6,000.00

Advise your attorneys or state the limits of their powers whilst you still have capacity:

If you want to limit the control of your LPA, you can do so. You can add preferences, which guide the attorneys or Instructions that must be followed by the attorneys.

LPA Costs

You cannot be coerced:

Any new LPA must be discussed with a certificate provider, which is either a professional or someone you trust, who must verify that you know what you are agreeing to and that you have not been coerced into signing.

The clues in the name:

A Lasting Power of Attorney lasts beyond the point of incapacity and looks after you and your choices if you are no longer able to.

You can have multiple attorneys:

You’re able to name multiple attorneys who can make decisions together or separately.
